       Nazareth College Class of '66

Christmas Toast 2009: Nazareth College Class of '66*

"In the Fall of l962, we the class of "66, began our Nazareth experience.  We were an all women's Catholic college at a time when Mass and "study hours" were compulsory, "dress jeans" were
unheard of, nuns wore habits, meals were served "family style", curfews were imposed, and
students could be, and in fact were, "campused".

Who would have imagined that forty-seven years later, some of our closest and dearest friendships and the relationships begun that Fall, would continue to grow, becoming richer and more meaningful, and that some of our best times would yet be spent with others from that very class.

We were young together. It is a wonderful gift to be with those who share such sweet, funny,
quirky, ridiculous, and heart warning memories.

We are growing old together and the times now are made more precious by our shared history
and ever evolving traditions, one of which is this Christmas celebration.

May we continue to share our wit and intelligence, energy, creativity, and compassion with each
other and with this troubled world.  Merry Christmas!"

* by Eileen Wurz Hunter at the 2009 Class of '66 Christmas Party

At the annual Christmas party at Mary Ann's, Eileen Wurz Hunter proposed a very moving toast and Karen Moore Larimer
asked her to write it down so everyone could savor it. You will find it above.

Best wishes for the holiday season to you and yours.

Thought you might like to know that the "hot news" from Macy's is the SHEATH Dress. Sound familiar?

Just back from Rochester to visit an friend celebrating her 99th birthday. It happened to coincide with the Rochester Book Club Summer Picnic. Good to see folks. They are working on a list of books to read in the coming year but have a long list that sounded fascinating. I will get a cop and post here and on the Wiki

Well, as hard to believe as it is, the Edisto party is again over--for now. There was a vote to hold the "next one" in May. 2009 but that was tabled for further investigation.

The Quilt raised $1,100 for our donation to Nazareth College. Thanks to all who participated. And, remember, everyone except Judy can claim it as a deduction.

Below pictures of "everyone" except Ginger Grealy Cutler who was only able to be there for a short time on Friday.

January 1, 2009 -- A Birthday, Edisto, and a Wiki!

A what? See below.

Looks like the Class of 1966 wants to go to Edisto Beach again. It is, of course, our 65th birthday year. So, let's celebrate!

In case you have forgotten what a good time was had there in 2004 go to the People pages on this site and look at Ann Marie, Barb, Cathy, KathyKaren or Linda's photos or the Group Shots

The dates we are working with so far at Thurs-Sun March 12-15th, 2009

(You can tell us if these dates work for you by reading further here about the Wiki we now have so that you can add your own information on the web.)

Why a Wiki? This time I thought maybe we could try using a Wiki--a way that we can all add information to a website about arrivals, etc. and contact each other without having our emails in the clear on the web.

Click here to go to the Class of 66 Wiki.
You might want to bookmark it. The URL is: http://classof66.wetpaint.com/
And for starters, go to the What Dates Work page--see below re Joining so you can edit the page.

In order to edit the pages and provide your own input you have to join.
TO JOIN
click on the yellow Join this Site group in the upper right corner. It asks for you to create a user name--I suggest your full name so we can find you!--you create a password and you enter your email address. The email address does not get displayed on the site but you will be notified of changes to the site. (You can control what you get notified about. Not to worry. That is under Member, Preferences. The site can be a tad slow so be patient.

And, if you have a fussy ISP (like AOL) please add: Class of '66  with email address info@wetpaintmail.com to your addressbook so that you will get notified as information is added to the site.

There are a lot of directions on the pages, so just follow along.
The best place to go first is the What Dates Work page.

The photo above was taken at my house on Harvard Street in Rochester, NY in October 1964, but I have no memory of who the party was for.
It would have been Junior/Big Sister Skit time...

Sandy Predmore is taking orders now for her new cookbook. All proceeds will go to education of children in Nicaragua.

March 29, 2008

Well, we have snow here in Maine. Lovely sun that makes it look like Spring but new snow on the ground.  But my sister and I are just back from a trip to Italy that included a visit to Ravenna and the tomb of Galla Placidia. It was a lovely as Sr. Magdelan made it sound 42 years ago.

As below, this is the time of year that the payment for the website hosting comes due. Thanks to those who have already sent checks.

You probably got the notice in the mail but the Nazareth College Reunion this year is June 1-3.
To check it out go to: www.naz.edu/reunion2007  Seems 41st Reunion just doesn't have the ring of 40th.

April 29 Where Does the Time Go?

Kind of quiet here except for the notes from those of you who have sent me the $10 to keep the website going for the coming year. Thanks!
If you haven't sent me something yet, you can find details if you click here.

I am a bit sketchy re names on this week's picture. Reply via 40threunion@naz66.org.

April 4, 2007 Happy Easter!

Our foot of "Spring Snow" is melting here in Maine, but...there is hope.
Connie Perry has sent a note--she has just returned from....Edisto! See her message here.

I have re-invigorated the News Page and put it on the Nav Bar at Left ( News ). I will be posting things like Connie's message there. So, write to me and see yourself "in print." If you don't want me to put you up on the website just say so in your email.

And, as you may have noticed, I moved a bunch of stuff off of the bar at left and put what was still there in alphabetical order.

All the old content is still there, just follow the links. For the specifically Reunion Prep Stuff click here.

Cleaning closets, getting ready for the Spring play--Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire...etc. But I did replace the pixelated Maria with a better one. I will start putting up new pictures of the week from the ones Barb scanned from Karen's book. So, keep watching.

Haven't heard from any of you--except Camille (of course ;-) see below. What's up?

A Message from Camille in case you missed it:

This is a shameless message of self-aggrandizement.
As of March 2007 I’ll be writing the “Good Books” column for the MCLS website and I’d be pleased if you’d check it out once in a while: http://www2.libraryweb.org/orgMain.asp?orgid=54
Please forward the link to any and all.  I’ll be ranting about books, book groups and reading in general.  They tell me I have a free hand.  I’d love to hear about what you’ve been reading.  This is my fifteen minutes of fame; anyone interested in being in my entourage?
